President Trump outlined a plan to reopen the country in three phases last week. The President and White House officials have stressed the importance of supporting and reviving a struggling economy by starting to reopen businesses and schools.

“We’re starting our life again,” Trump said during a daily press briefing. “We’re starting rejuvenation of our economy again.”

365体育官网Yet White House plans conflict with statements expressed by scientists and public health experts who say that without adequate testing and the ability to track new cases of the virus and isolate them, the nation will not be able to safely meet guidelines for reopening the country.

Without a clear picture of the virus, it's impossible to know if the guidelines are being met, they say.

Even in states with low infection rates, where reopening is expected to begin under Trump’s plan, it’s unclear if those rates offer a true depiction of the virus or are a result of the lack of testing taking place.

On Saturday, almost 1,900 Americans died from causes related to the coronavirus and the U.S. death toll surpassed 41,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University's data dashboard. Worldwide, there are more than 2.3 million cases of the virus.

What do you think? Is it time to reopen America? Why or why not?
